At PomPom, no two weeks look the same, and that’s exactly how we like it! Our team has been out and about across the motu, supporting young people, collaborating with partners, and helping to bring big ideas to life. Here’s a peek behind the scenes at what we’ve been up to.
Building Futures on the Kāpiti Coast
Charlotte and Hayley, who are based on the Kāpiti Coast, delivered the recent #EmployerMeet event for Work Ready Kāpiti. These speed-meet style sessions connect rangatahi with local employers in a way that feels fresh, approachable, and confidence-building.
For the young people who take part, the benefits are huge:
Gaining real-world interview experience in a supportive setting.
Asking industry insiders the questions that really matter.
Discovering potential pathways into apprenticeships, part-time work, or valuable work experience.
For employers, it’s a chance to meet the next generation of talent, share insights, and maybe even spot a future team member. It’s always inspiring to see connections spark in the room.
Collaboration in Action: TMBC Biosecurity Excellence Symposium
Meanwhile, Bay of Plenty based Natalie and Katy, delivered the Tauranga Moana Biosecurity Capital Biosecurity Excellence Symposium. This annual gathering brought together over 100 partners, industry leaders, and community voices at the stunning Papamoa Surf Life Saving Club, to kōrero, collaborate, and share knowledge on how we can collectively protect what we love about Tauranga Moana.
The day was packed with inspiring speakers, thought-provoking sessions, and plenty of opportunities to connect. It’s always a privilege to see the passion and expertise in the room and to help create a space where ideas can turn into real action.
What’s Next?
We don’t sit still for long. Next month, we’re gearing up for the Electra Business & Innovation Awards - the biggest celebration for the Kāpiti and Horowhenua business community. It’s a highlight on our calendar, and we can’t wait to bring it to life for its 31st year!
