How to Make the Most of Your Event Sponsorship

So, you’ve signed on as a sponsor, amazing! A lot of people think sponsorship ends with a logo on a poster, but it’s so much more than that. It’s a powerful opportunity to connect with your audience, build trust, and align your brand with experiences that actually matter. If you’re not making the most of that, you’re missing a trick. But it’s not too late to change that!

At PomPom Events & Marketing, we love bringing together the right sponsors with the right events, and we've seen firsthand what separates a standout sponsor from one that blends into the background. Here are a couple of tips on how to make your sponsorship count.

1. Get clear on your "why"!

Before the banners go up, take a moment to define what success looks like. Is it lead generation? Community goodwill? Brand awareness in a new market? The clearer you are on your goals, the easier it is to shape your presence to meet them, and the more helpful we can be in supporting you.

2. Activate your brand on site

Don't stop at signage! Get creative with how your brand shows up. Here are a couple of ideas you could try:

  • Host a pop-up experience: Think tasting station, photo wall, or chill-out zone.

  • Run a competition or giveaway to collect emails or create buzz.

  • Sponsor a moment: Like the welcome drink, a headline act, or a big reveal.

Think outside the box! The more interactive and memorable your presence, the more likely you’ll leave a lasting impression.

3. Leverage social (before, during and after)

Use your own channels to build momentum:

  • Before the event: Share teaser posts, ticket giveaways, or sneak peeks.

  • During: Go live, post stories, tag the event, and engage with attendees.

  • After: Share highlights, thank your team, and re-share any media coverage.

We’ll also be tagging and promoting our sponsors throughout, so keep an eye out and get involved in the conversation.

4. Bring the right team

Events are about people, and who you send on the day makes a huge difference. Choose team members who genuinely want to be there, who can talk confidently about your brand, and will represent your values with energy.

5. Follow up

Don't let those warm leads cool off. Whether it's new customers, B2B connections, or fellow sponsors, reach out while the event is still fresh in everyone’s minds. A simple follow-up email or social media message can turn a conversation into a collaboration.

6. Ask for the insights

Post-event reports are gold. At PomPom, we’ll always share key numbers, engagement highlights, and media outcomes. If you’ve got your own metrics (like QR code scans, discount code uses, or social reach), factor them in and use the learnings to shape your next move.

Final words

Sponsorship is a two-way street, and the more you lean into it, the more value you’ll get. With a bit of planning, creativity, and connection, your brand can shine long after the event wraps.
